On the 19th of September, we were part of the #worldcleanupday, an annual global social action program aimed at combating the global solid waste problem. We cleaned around town in Oile park, Taifa Park and Goan hall. We also planted 21 trees as a show of our commitment to combat climate change.
It is much joy to see how our boys acted responsibly and diligently took part in this activity. It goes without saying that our environment should be clean and we all have a role or a part to play. Over time we have engaged, there is a clear shift in change of perspective and reception to good behaviour.
We were graced by the Director of environment City Council of Kisumu and several other stakeholders that Joined in to support. Rome was not built in a day. Therefore we take pride in the bold step that our boys have taken towards responsibility and change of behaviour. It is the change of attitude, perception and character that indicate the will to adjust and be a better person.
A special thanks to everyone who was part and parcel of the activity. We received a recognition certificate for the work that we did. Most importantly we are proud of the boys and believe that this is just the beginning of the journey to transform the environment as we work towards changing the face of the street kids. “We are also human, We are also dignified”. Let’s give them a chance, they deserve it.
